When a leading venture capitalist, with offices across Europe, commissioned JBH with carrying out a corporate office fit-out of their HQ, they said it was important to them to have a high-spec flagship office with the “wow-factor”. Since their inception in 2004, the client has generated an exposure to approximately £4.7 billion of real estate assets, and so their base (a 6000 sq ft space) needed to reflect their status and success.
They specifically requested the following:
- A welcoming, professional reception area
- An open office area
- 2 (separate) partner offices
- 3 meeting rooms
- A boardroom
- Kitchen and teapoint/breakout areas
Working from visuals to create the aesthetics and finish imagined at design stage, our office fit-out and refurbishment team worked hard to meet the brief in full, on time and within budget.
Muraspec® visual feature walls were used throughout the design to bring a touch of class.
A bespoke white DuPont™ Corian® front/reception desk gives a professional and welcoming first impression to visitors. To finish the waiting area, we built a curved wall and added seating.
Meeting Rooms and Partner Offices
Glazed partitioning with walnut* door frames were used to part-create the meeting rooms, and the glass doors to both partner offices are sliding, to allow for open-plan working when required, and also to provide privacy and noise reduction when necessary.
* All storage wall units in the meeting rooms and partner offices are also in walnut.
The Kitchen and Teapoint Breakout Areas
The client wanted their kitchen and teapoint breakout areas to be light and airy for staff to sit in. To achieve this we used plenty of white – creating a fresh and almost minimalist look – with touches of bright colour in places to ensure the overall design and feel for users is clean and bright, but not clinical.
Feature lighting was used in these areas, which we felt would add fun – without fragmenting the overall uniformity of design and style.

Commissioned office designs with the “wow-factor” always presents unique challenges. So many of our clients operate in fiercely competitive industries, where gaining an edge is considered critical. Having a company HQ that immediately impresses visitors is instrumental in acquiring that edge, but a high-spec office fit-out must also entirely meet the needs of staff:
