JBH Refurbishments successfully completed two washroom refurbishments at East Surrey and Sussex Hospital in Redhill. As an NHS Approved Contractor, JBH Refurbishments has provided refurbishments for several hospital across the South East and was well placed to complete the refurbishment. Following an initial meeting and provision of costs, the hospital commissioned JBH to complete the male and female washroom refurbishments.
The old washrooms were extremely tired and no longer suitable for patients and visitors. As a result, JBH Refurbishments had to strip out all of the existing cubicles, toilets, sinks, flooring and suspended ceiling in order to begin work.
Initially the suspended ceiling system was replaced and new LED lighting was recessed into the ceiling. The walls were painted a crisp white, with accents of duck egg blue. Before the fixtures and fitting could be installed, a new cap and cove floor was fitted, with a wood effect vinyl. The use of cap and cove flooring in areas where hygiene is crucial, enables simple and effective cleaning into corners and edges where the build up of dirt and germs is most common.
For additional hygiene and to add a decorative feature to the room, wood veneer panelling was fitted behind the sinks, toilets and urinals. Once the panels were in place the plumbing of the toilets, urinals, sinks and taps were completed, allowing the vanity units to be fitted.
The vanity units and toilet cubicle systems were finished in the same wood veneer as the panelling and accents of duck egg blue to compliment the decor.
The original layout of the old washrooms was replicated; in the men’s, a single toilet cubical system was fitted, and the ladies was fitted with a dual system.
The entire washroom refurbishment was completed within a two week time frame and was delivered on budget.
