Partitioning Kent

With our experience in office partitioning many of our Kent clients come to us looking to create offices, meeting rooms, storage space and general break out areas from their current workspace while maintaining good lighting and a feeling of “spaciousness”. This article gives an overview of the work we carried out for Nelson Policies at Lloyds in Maidstone as well as some general information on office partitioning options.

Nelson Policies at Lloyds

Nelson Policies at Lloyds needed us to carry out an office refurbishment to create a designated storage and comms room, boardroom and two offices within their open plan space, prior to moving to their new head office premises at Knightrider Street in Maidstone.

Bearing the above objectives in mind we decided to use two different types of partitioning.

Creating the Offices

In the case of the offices glazed partitioning was installed to help maintain the natural light. We installed an aluminium frame to support the 10mm clear toughened glass with polished edges that would create the two offices, and complimentary full height doors. The dividing wall for the two offices was created with a solid insulated partition. We then added frosting to the outer glazed panels to give a measure of privacy to the office space. Nelson Policies at Lloyds branding was also incorporated into the frosting panels (see page image).

Creating the Boardroom, Comms and Storage Areas

The boardroom and storage and comms room were all created using solid partitioning with insulated walls and beach veneer doors.

Is Office Partitioning Right For You?

With so many office partitioning options you’d be hard pressed not to be able to find the “right” partitioning for your office refurbishment. The first step in identifying which type of partition would work best for your office space is to think about what are you trying to achieve e.g. do you need storage space, offices, break out areas, a conference room or are you simply looking to reorganise your space more efficiently?

Working out your requirements will help when it comes to choosing the partitioning that will work best for you e.g.

  1. Full and half glazed partitions are a good choice when you want to section off office space while maintaining the maximum amount of available light.
  2. Timber partitioning is ideal for conference facilities, executive suites and boardrooms.
  3. Sliding or folding door partitions are the best choice when you want to be able to utilise areas for different purposes e.g. sliding door partitions can be closed or opened up to create smaller or larger spaces.
  4. Or you may want the flexibility to be able to change your office layout as and when required. This can be achieved through the use of demountable partitioning which has the benefit of being easy to dismantle and re-erect when required.
