Government Incentives to Support School Maintenance
Earlier this year the government pledged to fund the maintenance of school buildings in order to support the delivery of education. Over the next two years they will be investing £4 billion to fund property improvements and school maintenance. As a result JBH Refurbishments has committed to providing tailored Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) packages for schools throughout Kent, London, Surrey, Sussex and Essex.
In the past we have carried out numerous school refurbishments across Kent and London, and have separately offered facilities management for commercial properties. However, in light of the new government funding it is apparent school officials will be seeking specialist school maintenance support, therefore JBH Refurbishments is offering tailor-made PPM packages for school maintenance.
Our tailored PPM packages specifically take into account the most common needs of school property maintenance jobs, including:
- Repairs caused by general wear and tear
- Electrical testing
- Health and safety
For school refurbishment work and maintenance we only use onsite professionals that hold an enhanced DBS certification for your peace-of-mind.
Why is the Government Offering to Support School Maintenance?
The government’s pledge to encourage the use of facilities management services for school buildings over the next two years comes with three very good reasons:
- The buildings have the potential to enhance the delivery of education, but can also provide a significant distraction for staff and pupils when things go wrong.
- Effective maintenance reduces the risks associated with buildings and building services, and helps to prevent the need for significant expenditure and disruption which can follow building failure.
- Schools have a legal duty of care to ensure the Health and Safety of staff, pupils and site visitors.
Why Choose JBH for Your School Maintenance?
Many schools throughout the UK were built during the 1960’s and 70’s, with little maintenance work having been carried out. In the past JBH Refurbishments has been contracted to carry out major refurbishments in a number of these old schools. However, by keeping on top of the property maintenance and enlisting the support of our facilities management services, we can help to preserve your school building and minimise the risk of emergency repairs needing to take place during school hours.
Rather than seeking individual trades, JBH Refurbishments is a single point of contact for all your odd jobs, school maintenance and repair work. Our prices are completely transparent to give you confidence that you are getting value for money on your school maintenance.
Health and Safety is Always a Prime Consideration
We understand that school maintenance plays an important part in complying with health and safety law to provide a safe working environment for both staff and pupils. To adhere to strict Health and Safety law as part of our scheduled school maintenance package we provide:
- Site survey
- Risk assessment
- Method statements
- Health and Safety elements
- An annual plan with programme of works
- Scheduled costs
- Record of works
How do Our School Maintenance Packages Work?
Following an initial site survey, we will work with you to create a schedule of works and provide all the necessary documentation, with the most urgent work taking place during the first visit/s.
Below is an example of some of the work we can carry out as part of our school maintenance service during scheduled visits:
- Plumbing (replace broken toilets, repair leaking taps)
- Carpentry (fitting fire doors, building furniture)
- Suspended ceiling
- Fixtures and fittings (fitting rails, computer trunking, installing equipment)
- Health and safety signage
- Electrical (PAT testing, lighting, cabling, data cabling)
- Flooring (repair or replace)
- Wall cladding
To make sure we don’t disrupt the daily routine in your school we endeavour to carry out any work out of school hours and during school holidays.
