JBH Refurbishments was contracted to complete the office partitioning installation for Kent based, mechanical engineering specialists, KD Group.
The company was expanding and found new premises at Maidstone’s 20/20 Business Park in Allington. This central location is a popular choice for Kent’s flourishing businesses. It is a short drive from Maidstone town centre and has excellent access to the M20 motorway, therefore, posed a natural choice for KD Group.
Like many companies that relocate, KD Group needed to make adaptations to their new office space ahead of their move. JBH refurbishments was called in to advise on optimising the space with an office partitioning installation.
The office partitioning installation was required to create four separate spaces to compliment the main open plan office.
KD Group required two offices for senior management, a meeting room and spacious breakout area. The new spaces would be built around the edge of the main office space.
To avoid blocking the natural light from the main windows, yet still provide a form of privacy, JBH Refurbishments created a combination of solid wall partitions and full-height glazed frameless office partitioning.
The two management offices were located next to the main open place space. Therefore, it was important to maximise the natural light flooding through the external windows from the management offices. JBH Refurbishments suggested a fluid design option using a frameless system with full height glazed partitioning and matching doors.
The meeting room and breakout area were located further away from the main office area and required more privacy. Therefore, the JBH office design team specified oak doors to compliment the combination of full height solid and glazed office partitioning.
JBH created the artwork and fitted KD Group branded manifestation to the glazed partitioning. This added the finishing touches to the all-new offices, meeting room and breakout area.
The team at KD Group have now settled into their new premises at the 20/20 Business Park in Maidstone and enjoying their new surroundings.
When it comes to the design and layout of your workspace, office partitioning plays a crucial role.
As you can see in this 3D visual – an office partitioning installation provides individual quiet spaces, breakout rooms, managerial offices, activity-based workstations and meeting rooms. These are all essential requirements for the modern London and Kent office design.
If you are planning an office partitioning installation for your Kent or London office, then the first thing you should consider is the natural light source.
If you are planning to partition an area that could segregate the majority of the natural light source from the rest of the office, then like KD group, we suggest using full height glazed office partitioning, or a combination of solid wall and glazed partitioning.
We all know that privacy is essential in the office setting, so how can this be achieved while making the most of the natural light? It’s very simple, there are various options available, such as:
- Double glazed office partitioning and integrated blinds. With a simple external mechanism, the blinds open and close when required.
- Smart film glass offers an uprated version of the traditional blind mechanism. Interchange from clear glass to opaque at the flick of a switch using a wall mounted switch or remote. The room can become completely private in seconds thanks to an electrical current that passes through the film.
Staying on the subject of privacy, it is worth noting that there are a wide range of office partitioning products that boast excellent acoustic properties for effective sound proofing. This may be an essential requirement in your busy workplace, where sometimes a quiet space to meet, reflect or work is necessary.
When planning your office design and layout, office partitioning can make or break the end result. That’s why we suggest carefully considering the options available:
- Framed glass partitioning
- Double glazed partitioning with integrated blinds
- Frameless glass partitioning
- Composite partitioning
- Curved glass partitioning
- Concertina partitions
- Moving walls
- Glass partitioning with bespoke manifestation
- Stud wall partitioning
- Acoustic glass partitioning
