JBH Offers Hygienic Cladding Advice to Kent Companies

JBH Refurbishments is offering local food establishments in Kent hygienic cladding advice and support on improving their hygiene levels, following a recent report from the Food Standards Agency. The report revealed the food outlets across the county that did not reach the acceptable hygiene ratings and need improvement.

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme – which ranges from five to zero – was implemented by the Food Standards Agency to help consumers choose where to eat out or shop for food.

Among the Kent-based takeaways, restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops, newsagents and other food retailers visited by an official Food Safety Officer a staggering 483 food outlets were given a rating of two or lower – two means improvement necessary, one means major improvement necessary and zero represents urgent improvement necessary.

Having provided hygienic working areas for hospitals, healthcare centres, laboratories and schools, JBH Refurbishment is well placed to offer helpful advice and support to businesses struggling to maintain high levels of cleanliness within their premises.

Hygiene Requirements

By law there are many special hygiene requirements for food outlets. In rooms where food is prepared, treated or processed, it must be kept clean and maintained to good repair and condition.

All walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors and surfaces must be easy to keep clean and, where required disinfected. Walls and floors should be covered with an impervious material that is non-absorbent, washable and non-toxic.

Director of JBH Refurbishments, Jason Hubbard, champions the use of hygienic cladding, he explains, “For optimum cleanliness in a working environment hygienic cladding is a fantastic wall and ceiling surface. It’s an entirely impervious and smooth service that is extremely easy to keep clean. The internal and external corners can be pre-formed to prevent the build-up of germs and dirt that can reside in joins or grouting between tiles. Any joins can be welded, or we can use vertical covered trains. When combined with cap and cove vinyl flooring, there are very few areas dirt can accumulate.”

Hygienic Cladding

JBH Refurbishments are approved installers of both Altro Whiterock and BePlas hygienic cladding. The firm’s technicians are trained on specialist tools to provide a seamless installation.

While its hygiene properties are unrivalled, Hygienic cladding can also become a design feature. The large sheets come in many colours and patterns. It can even branded or have a photographed printed onto the surface. The options are endless.

The Food Standards Agency specifies that ceilings must be constructed in a way that prevents dirt build up and reduces condensation, the growth of undesirable mold and shedding of particles. Hygienic cladding can be used as a ceiling covering, but for ceilings with exposed pipework and cabling, a suspended ceiling with a moisture resistant, anti-bacterial tile is an ideal alternative.

JBH Refurbishments provides turnkey solutions for commercial properties, from providing complete refurbishments and partitioning to door installations and flooring. Its service and maintenance programme offers company’s under strict observation peace-of-mind when it comes to the general repair of their premises.

JBH Refurbishments welcomes any calls for advice from businesses that are struggling to maintain their property and its hygiene levels, so for more information call 0333 207 0339 or contact us via our contact page.
